After 16 years in the editorial department of educational publisher McDougal Littell, Ruth Hull Chatlien leaped into the freelance ocean in 2006. Since then, she has worked as a freelance writer and editor for McDougal Littell; Holt, Rinehart, and Winston; and most recently, Prentice Hall. Her specialties are American history, World history, and American literature. In 2009, she published the young adult nonfiction book Modern American Indian Leaders. In addition, she has published short fiction and poetry in Rambunctious Review, Naming the Daytime Moon, and Christianity and the Arts. Another poem is forthcoming in the spring 2010 issue of Ruminate.
